The CBF has called a meeting on May 27 to decide the Brasileirão’s future amid the crisis in Rio Grande do Sul. Grêmio, Internacional, and Juventude have pushed for a complete suspension, supported by the Gaucho Federation.
The current measure postponing matches for Rio Grande do Sul teams ends on May 27. Clubs will discuss technical competition aspects, player registration and transfers, legal issues for international competition access, and broadcasting rights.

“The CBF asked for our position on whether the Brasileirão should continue,” a club representative said, following a request from the Ministry of Sports to halt the competition. The crisis has already postponed matches in the Brasileirão, Copa do Brasil, Series C and D, and the Brasileirão Feminino.
Clubs are divided. Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, and Atlético-GO want to continue the matches. “We believe continuing the games supports the people of Rio Grande do Sul more effectively,” a Flamengo spokesperson stated. Grêmio, Inter, and Juventude, with support from Atlético-MG, advocate for stopping the tournament.
