Manchester City are interested in Shakhtar Donetsk’s Brazilian star Fernandinho, according to reports in Italian press.

Sky Italia report that Manchester City are paying around 28 million Euros for the Shakhtar player, they claim the deal was done in January.

The midfielder had been linked to other Premier League clubs before and also to Inter Milan. He has expressed before his intention to play in a bigger league one day.

Fernandinho is a box to box midfielder with impressive technique, vision and passing, he started his career at Atlético Paranaense in 2002.

He was signed by Shakhtar Donestsk in 2005, and soon became one of the team’s stars.

A move to Manchester City could help him increase his profile in Brazil and get more chances at the national team.

His only Seleção caps were earned between 2011 and 2012, when Mano Menezes was the national team manager. 

If he dees leaves Shakhtar as reported, he will follow in the footsteps of Willian, who joined Russian team Anzhi in January.
